Hi.
We will be moving house in a couple of months.

At the moment we have a standard Sky Box and use it also in Motorhome.
If we upgrade to SKY+HD will we be able to use it in Motorhome.
Thanks in advance.

It depends what you mean by use, but the simple answer is yes.

When I have answered like this on other topics, however, I have subsequently been berated for the equivalent this time of "but I couldn't receive HD on my standard definition TV" or "but I couldn't record two channels while watching a playback of the third" etc. etc .....

No, You cannot receive Sky Hd unless the HD box is connected permanently to a telephone line, There are other boxes that enable HD to be received without a phone line but not Sky HD.

Les

We have HD and have tried it, You can receive the standard channels in the Motorhome but Not HD

I thought that was only for the HD channels, so I live and learn.

Sorry Dave, I think I may have put that wrong

You CAN use the box in the camper

You CANNOT get HD Channels without a phone line, So simply no you cannot get HD in a camper.

I did not try the record one whilst watching another so I cannot comment.

Smile

Which tends to be why I answer the way I do, as in the first line of my first reply!

I don't know what gear the OP has in the motorhome (HD TV? Twin LNB?) so it depends what s/he wants the box to do! Smile

Thanks DABurleigh/SaddleTramp.

What I want is just to view in Motorhome.
Don't really need HD in van.

We are suppose to leave our standard Sky box on phone line, but we never do.

Thanks to you both.

In which case it will work fine, though if you do have only a single LNB output then it can throw frustrating wobblies when you are firing up satellite at a time you have asked it to record something.

Having just upgraded to Sky+ HD, I researched this point beforehand. As has been said, after a year, there is no requirement for a phone connection for non-HD Sky+ installations, but there is a requirement for one for HD installations, which does not time-expire. If you use your HD box without a phone connection, you will be able to use it but only until it comes to light that you have no phone connection, when Sky will intervene.

So the issue isn't about the box being in the motorhome; it's about not being connected to your specified phone line.

Dougie.
