Hi,
We are relocating to Southern Glasgow - Newton Mearns or Jackton area and looking for secure storage for our motorhome. Is anyone able to recommend a location / storage site in that area? Ideally a site that is happy to have larger vans.
Thank you
David

Sorry, I don't know of any since we keep the van at home.
At least this will bump you back up.

Have you looked on the CASSOA (I think it is) web site, they are an organisation for storage of large items, like motorhomes, caravans and boats and are organised in the gold, silver, bronze categories, depending on the facilities etc., they provide.

Do check with your insurer that they will still cover you when away from home for storage, as some don't.... and I know people who have had to change insurers over it.

I think the nearest CASSOA site is about 20 miles away near Irvine. I am only a few miles from Jackton and when we were getting an extension done in 2003 we stored the van at a cattery where they use the land for caravan storage between Hamilton and Strathavan, very reasonable and secure entry with CCTV, not CASSOA but safeguard did not have a problem with it - a bit of pig to get to from this side due to a narrow bridge but nearer than Ayrshire. It was a very helpful lady called Angela that I dealt with, and the details are as follows -

Newfield Cattery
11 Muttonhole Road
Hamilton, Lanarkshire, ML3 8RU

Hi

I'm near where you'll be (Clarkston) and we've got storage in a CASSOA site at Beith (suits us as parents in Johnstone). Lugtonridge - That's the nearest one that I know of (30 mins drive down the M77). We got the last space when we went but his business is growing all the time and I'm sure he'll be happy to advise anyroads.

Having said that, think we will be looking round for somewhere closer so if you do find something, please give me a nod!

Welcome to the Southside!

Pauwilson & Dannimac,
Thank you both, we will make some enquiries. I had been hoping to find somewhere quite close as we use the van a lot. The cattery sounds promising failing that I had found Beith before so will look into that further.
I think it's a shame that Strathyclyde police don't want to create a storage site on some of their land there. Would that get cassoa gold Smile ?

Frogger

We, too, keep ours at a CASSOA registered site at Lugtonridge. Well recommended. Helpful folk.
