It appears that quite a few of you use a sky box in your motorhomes.
Can any one tell me if it would be possible to use my redundant virgin box with a dish. It seems to me that the only difference is that sky is fed via a coax cable and virgin via a fibre optic cable.
Please forgive me if it appears that my thinking comes from an area usually employed for sitting on. I am a technophobe and proud of it.
Thanks in anticipation.

Simple answer is no. Satellite and cable are not compatible.

Doesn't Virgin get routed around the country underground thro' a fibre optic cable and Sky receives it's signal via sattelite and a dish before going to your TV via a coax cable?

Hi Bigbazza, Yes thats right. The sky signal comes from the dish and is delivered to the receiver via a coax cable whereas the virgin signal is delivered to the receiver via a fibre optic cable. Whichever way you look at it a signal gets to a receiver, ok so its via a different type of cable but in essence my query was, "will the receiver convert the signal regardless of the type of cable its coming through". Does that make any sense?
Norm.

Yes.

The answer's no. As you are proud of being a technophobe I won't bother to explain Smile
