I have just put up a SKY dish and LNB donated by our local dump and connected it to a SILVERCREST SL 65/12 box as supplied with a camping satellite briefcase settup. I pointed the dish notionally in the same direction as the next door neighbors dish and peaked up the signal using a meter thingey.
Bingo. It works. 100 channels off Astra 2 at 28 degrees whatsit. But no channel 4 or channel 5.

Any suggestions (that don,t cost money)?

(The camper has a Sky box with a £20 freeview card and does get Ch4 and Ch5 of Astra 2)

You may have to retune it, dunno! Try doing a search, I have sweet FA at the moment on Freeview digital at home!

Hi Clive,

You should have both of those channels. Have you tried doing a complete re-scan of the box?

Am I going mad? Its a SATELLITE RECEIVER Not terestrial freeview.
I have a cracking signal off Astra 2. I assumed I need to update the software in the Silvercrest box. Or am I talking cobblers?

HELP

No Clive, you're not losing it mate but as with freeview, if your satellite box was last used before channels 4 and 5 were added to the FREESAT selection of channels then you should re-scan it. If I'm wrong sorry but you've got nothing to lose.

Calm down Clive, all is not lost. Laughing Laughing Laughing

You will have channels 4 and 5 in the programs but they won't be listed as such, they'll appear as a numbered channel. You need to either find out the numbers or search through the list until you find them (bit of a long job). Sorry but I can't get at ours ATM, someone will come along before long who knows the channel ID numbers.

Hi There

My Kathrein 900 now shows 4 & 5 as named channels now- so easier to identify.

They were shown as numbers earlier and were a b****r to find.

Cheers

David
