Hi Y'all

Re my recent topic 'Sky card not working' I have decided to try my 240v box from home in MH.

Right now my Pace 12v digibox is on its side stuck to the inside of a locker so I can't quite see the gubbins etc. Question: how do I wire the 240v box in: what bits do I need?

If you're going to use it only when you've a MHU, then you on't need anything. Just plug it in.

If you're planning to use it without MHU - i.e. wild camping - the you need an inverter to modify your 12v battery power to 230v AC.

I have a power cable ready to go but what about connecting the box to the Oyster? Does it need an aerial from box to satellite? I can see what looks like an aerial lead coming from the 'Receiver' outlet on the Oyster and a thinner wire coming from the 'F plug' right beside it on th Oyster but I can't see behind the Pace to see what it is plugged in there.

hi sal,
If the mains sky box works fine i`d get a small 300w invertor and run a small cable to the cupboard were the sky box is , like a extension lead thats what we have. But we have a cheap non subscription sky box off ebay and leave it in the camper all the time with a "magic eye" plugged into the rf outlet on the sky box . and once powered throught the sub menue its great as we can leave the cupbord closed once tv is on etc.

even swivel tv round to whatch in bed Embarassed well thats what camping s about init Laughing

There has to be the following connected to your sky box

coax (lead from oyster with f connector on)

AV or RF lead between box and tv

Power lead

Thanks everyone for advice given. 240v box now wired up no probs. I had hope to leave the Pace in situ but ended up having to take it out and so then it was just a straightforward switch of wires except that the antenna is very short and the top cupboards aren't big enough to take the 240v box so I will need a longer antenna/aerial cable. Someone mentioned that Sky use special cables for improved reception. Is this so or will any ordinary antenna/aerial wire do?
