Me too Peedee, as it is a very frequent question and quite important to those starting out and perhaps on a limited budget.

The annual sub for either club is too much to throw away if you make the wrong choice, so a list of Pros and Cons is very useful IMHO.

It will also help those trying to decide whether or not it's worth it for them to join a club at all.

Good choice for a FAQ Dave.

Would it be worth adding something to the effect that the CC allow you to select your pitch on arrival while the C&CC allocate you a pitch ( and show you to it) and allow you to book for a hard standing.

(We prefer the latter as we know, if we arrive late, the hard standing pitch we asked for will be waiting rather than the last grass pitch in deepest shade which is all that the CC have left!)

Good point G especially about deposits so I have edited my original post to include a note about booking.

My dad used to say that the CC was run by and for officers and the C&CC for other ranks !

This was a long time ago....

This may or may not help - in fact it might make matters worse...but it may be worthwhile considering WHERE you usually end up, and the manner in which you tour.

Reason being, cc&c tend to have more small places in the middle of nowhere - which is a benefit....but you will need to book these places as they are always full.

You could just join both, and change the window stickers on arrival!! lol!

I am a member of both the CC and C@CC mainly because of the vast network of cl's ans cs's around the country. You can normally find one nearby wherever you are.

Occasionally I will use their own sites and both organisations run them very well,I find the CC sites are of a slightly higher standard, although the C@CC are still more than acceptable.

Prices are going higher all the time, imo both clubs are expensive, the C@CC being slightly cheaper.

The C@CC also run THS (temporary holiday sites)in popular locations during peak season. These are good value as they are usually on an established commercialised site and much cheaper than the standard tariff that everyone else pays.

I have found that both clubs have their fair share of 'jobsworth' wardens who seem to enjoy being little hitlers Laughing but on the whole most wardens are very good.

Hi.
This may be of interest to some.
The AA will only cover M/H up to 3.5 ton. I am assuming this is for recovery.
The RAC will only cover M/H up to 3.5 ton unless you are a member of the C&CC then it goes up to 4 ton. Again I am assuming this is for recovery.

Its the C&CC/RAC for me then.

I hope you are wrong.
My understanding is that RAC ARRIVAL via the C&CC does not have a weight limit at all. Our MH is 6 tonne!

Hi C.
I would suggest you check it out yourself. I can assure you this is what they both told me over the phone only about a week ago.
I would be very suprised if either have the kit to recover/relay a 6 ton M/H.
I hope for your sake I am wrong !
Please let me know what they tell you.
G.
