We have been looking at having a back box too, we wondered if the fact of it being a lift-up rear door, would make it tricky to use? What about the weight of the box whilst trying to life the door, would it clear the elevated roof? We can only isolate the gas with the door lifted at the back.

I would love to see a box on a Topaz, we would probably consider losing the bike rack if necessary. Ours is a 2001 model on VW.

Hi CaGreg apparently uprated gas struts are required to take the strain and clearance does seem possible with hitop model
