Why am i getting bombarded with e mails that are comming from the far east. These usualy have a Christian name and are titled ...order, hello, follow up etc. When opened they all introduce themselves and give web sites to do business on. I receive a lot of e mails from customers with orders
attatched . I am loathed to open most of them and delete them straight away
They are getting tiresome and a waste of time. A lot of senders are simply entered into my spam sorter but lots get throughas they apear to be "friendly"

Mark the domains as spam....I think that that's as good as it gets.

I use Mail washer but in a rather strange way. I set it up to refuse everything with a set of random numbers and digits which cannot possibly arrive by accident or in other words creating a filter that rejects everything.

But on Mailwasher, the Friends list over rides the Black list and so initially I mark the email marked for bounce and delete off Virgin server as a friend and hence forth that person can send me emails that I download on Outlook Express which is simply my favourite mail program and always has been even though I have tried hundreds more.

So I end up with a list of blacklisted people which I can change if I wish and a small list of friends as I don't have many thank god.

And so only those emails that are from dear ones, loved ones and tolerable ones actually ever get on my computer.

Start a new email address and slowly switch across to it whilst keeping the old one going .

I stoped using my aol email address 12 months ago and it still gets 30-40 spam emails aday ,

once you on a list you dont come off, all you can do is switch or just keep filtering .

I'm on Googlemail, and I just don't have any problems, I get about 50 spams a day, but they go into a different folder automatically, as google itself seems to have a list of spammers addresses.

Kev.

PS been with them well over two years, none got through yet. I don't know if it makes any difference but I also always use BCC when sending multiple emails.

Agree with Pusser use mail washer, its free, its safe, and it works, deletes spam before you ever see it.

As many people have said, there is white/black list filtering software available which does help. now you are getting spam it will probably always be a problem, a good stratagy is to have two email addresses, one genuine for trusted sources and a second for everything else, never sign up or register for anything with the good email address, always use the second one, once you are sure it's ok you can change it. for example i registered here with an address i don't care about, after a period of time and i could see that i wasn't getting spam because i joined MHF, i switched the email address in my account settings to use my primary address.

If you only have one address provided by your ISP, you could get a package similar to the instant mail package offered by 1&1 internet. essentially you pay around £8 a year and they give you email boxes at the domain name you register, i think they give you 5 mail boxes and as many aliases as you like. an extra benefit to this is that it doesn't matter if you change ISPs etc, as your email address is totally seperate and always stays with you.
