I have a Vodafone dongle which works reasonably well on my laptop.
Is it possible to provide an internet connection to a second laptop simultaneously either by wire, bluetooth or wireless.

Hi

To show that it is possible but not really a help to you Embarassed .............. 3 Mobile do a device that turns the 3 mobile dongle into a wifi server. Vodafone do not seem to have a similar device but in the competitive mobile broadband market I suppose they may be thinking about it Wink

Hi

If you are using windows OS then you can use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing), if you go to the properties of your internet connection in control panel, i think it's on the advanced tab, it states something like "let other computers use this internet connection", this will configure your computer to act as a proxy for other machines, then use a network cable to connect the second laptop to yours (if you can't make the connection with a normal cable; either buy or make a cross over cable but i don't think it'll be a problem), it's easiest if DHCP Client is enabled on the second machine, i.e. don't give it a static IP address.

3G Router, to share mobile broadband as already mentioned

I have a 3 network one although have not got round to using it yet and am pretty sure it will be locked to 3,

there are quite a few models around that are network free like this one

http://www.nucleusnetworks.co.uk/3g-router/billion-bipac-7402gxl.htm
(none in stock at the mo)

or this one 144 in stock which is locked to vodaphone

http://www.morecomputers.com/extra.asp?pn=wrt54g3gv2-vf

This is the one i was going to get.
