Sorry, but this must look daft but I am not good at the innards, how basic of vehicles.

The offside brake lamp has failed on my 98 T4.

The inner furniture is such that I can't get to see what's in the cluster. The cover comes off and I can get a hand round inside but haven't a clue what I'm feeling for.

There must be an indicator, a side lamp, a brake lamp and also a reverse lamp. But how do I locate the failed one if I can't see. Any clues as to the layout?

Maybe a diagram is available somewhere.

Hi You say you can get your hand round. If that is the case, feel around for two fairly large Wing nuts, one near the top and one near the bottom in the centre of the light cluster. Unscrew them both and the front should come away and expose the bulb holding unit. The wing nuts are not metal they are a sort of composite hard rubber so shouldn't be rusted. Get back if you have problems. Andy

Couldn't feel those wing nuts, so resorted to a mirror and not a sign of them, but there were two spring clips, one at each side. A quick nip and the inner cluster came out.

Job jobbed as they say and thanks again.
