Hi,
Is it me? I pay out for Norton and I've just had four days of problems caused by an automatic update,Igo online to one click and after a long wait get onto the online chat which directs me to apage which cannot be found I then find that this is a known fault caused by the aforementioned update and have to download a fix tool. WHY can't the make that an auto update as well. They now want me to fill in a survey, think I'll do it tonight
Chris
These up dates are part of the reason I use Google Chrome, it's not perfect, but I rarely have to wait for updates, and they never want to install unless you're in a rush to shut down or start up. Grr I hate Microsoft.
Hi,
WHY can't the make that an auto update as well. Chris
Because they are so big having got nearly every manufacturer to stick Norton on their products they don't need to worry to much about you. It is very much an American idea copied from Microsoft.
First duty with any new computer must be to uninstall Norton. It is hated so much that they have even taken the uninstall routine away. Has to be downloaded.

I must be the odd one out here because I have have been using Norton 2009 on the desktop and laptop for a few months now and have had no problems whatsoever,it is low on resources, updates automatically, and generally been very good with windows vista.
I have no hesitation in recommending it and will renew my subscription when it expires.
I stopped using norton several years ago for a few reasons
1/ its a heavyweight, takes loads of system resources to run in the background
2/ its far more complicated than it needs to be and causes more problems than it solves
3/ its over priced.
4/ Lastly and more importantly I purchased a normal run of the mill NOd antivirus through recommendation, tried it before switching the company computers over and on nearly every machine NOD found something that Norton had been living with for god knows how long,
These days even the free versions are better reviewed than Norton. I know you have paid for it but I would recommend you either dump it and buy another or dump it swallow hard and get a free version of AVG or similar knowing the next year wont cost you a bean.
Its such a shame norton products were the bee's knees until about 5 years ago when they got left at the starting gate.
Before I retired I was an information security manager. Back in 2000 the head office contracted with Norton to put AV on all the desktops (tens of thousands). They gave all the ISMs (about 30 of us) free personal copies of Norton Internet Security 2000, basicly just a personal firewall they were selling before personal firewalls were common.
After a few weeks use I discovered that the plain text ruleset included rules to allow your PC to communicate with spyware companies, who had obviously given Norton backhanders to build in these rules. I have never touched Norton since, and my first job on getting a new PC is to get rid of the damned thing
