Hello all, particularly anyone with experience of the Dutch E&P levelling system.
Remember our posting some 12 months ago seeking advice on E&P Hydraulic Leveller's ? Well we did go ahead and had the system fitted by Southdowns of Portsmouth to our Charisma I800L which is based on the Mercedes 616CDI chassis. The system is very good and far more advanced than what we have experienced on American RV's over the past 12 years of ownership.
However we do have a concern with the ground to base plate clearance of the jacks when in the stored travelling position ie 7ins.(178mm) on the front pair, 6ins. (152mm) on the rear pair. We have experienced a couple of near misses when siting on grass pitches. The differential casing clearance between the rear wheels also measures 6ins.(152mm). Finally we also find that when levelled automatically. the step height for comfortable access into the van can be excessive. It has been suggested that this could be a problem on a chassis like ours without air bags as is is possible to achieve some preliminary levelling with air prior to deploying the jacks.....really would appreciate any input/comment on either.....regards.....Crindle.

Hi, I have no experience of the system, but do have the same chassis as you.

It seems to me that the Diff to ground clearance is the determining factor, and nothing short of fitting larger wheels will increase this.

This hasn't yet been a problem, perhaps I've just been lucky

Hi.....This problem now sorted much to our relief thanks to C&M for repositioning the rear jacks in a higher position. First class professional job which didn't break the bank, will certainly be using their services in the future......Crindle.
