i've recently upgraded to snow leopard and tried to load some photos from my eos 30D and the camera says its busy , but nothings happening does any one know if there's a known problem with a cannon camera and snow leopard, thanks. dennis
To drag and drop you have to take the Flash card out of the camera and put it into a card reader, that done, you will be able to see the memory card (in Devices section) in the left panel in "Finder"
Are you taking "JPG" or "RAW" images with your 30D ?
Need to get a card reader, i was taking both raw & jpeg i think,
i have a cannon G10 that i loaded some photos yesterday and it worked ok but when i tried to load from the D30 nothing just keeps saying busy in the top window but nothing, i seem to remember there being a problem with cannon on a mac.dennis
I haven't got Leopard on my Mac but I have got Canon cameras and used a 30D until about 6 months ago, never had a problem. One thing you must have is the latest RAW File plugin for some software, otherwise they will not be able to process it
My Canon camera needs software to enable access from a PC or a Mac. You might need the "Canon EOS Utility."
Other cameras (like my Olympus) will allow you to browse into the card in the camera through the USB lead, but Canons need the software. Alternatively, as Biglol says, use a card reader.
You can download the Mac software direct from Canon.
I suspect the issue will be related to the need for an updated plugin to match Snow Leopard (I'm still running Tiger).
There is one other thought and this is based on my experience as a confirmed Nikon-man. If the 30D has a similar facility to Nikon DSLRs, they can be set to act either as 'Mass Storage' or 'Point-to-Point' devices. This is set in the camera menu on a Nikon.
When set to P-T-P the camera will interact with iPhoto via the Image Capture utility. In order to see the camera as a storage device, it needs to be set to 'Mass Storage', then the Mac will see it as a normal external device (like an external disk or USB flash memory stick) and show it on the desktop when connected via USB.
