I am hoping someone may be able to advise us what to do as we have a problem with the mouse/mousepad on my husband's Toshiba laptop Model: Satellite P200D-128.
He uses a Logitech USB wireless mouse and it has suddenly frozen up and the pointer will no longer move. He's changed the batteries but this has not made any difference either so obviously that isn't the problem. Assuming there was a problem with the Logitech mouse, my husband decided to switch the built in mousepad function back on and use that for the time being but unfortunately, that will not operate either and the pointer just freezes on the screen. The laptop itself seems to be working ok otherwise so from what we can tell it is basically just a mouse problem. Not being technically minded we haven't a clue what to do next and so we would really appreciate some suggestions as to what may be the problem or what we can attempt to do ourselves to fix it?
If there is anyone on the forum who feels they may have a solution for us to try then we would really welcome your help.

Thank you.

You may have to press a little button underneath the mouse
Yes, we done both the things you mention and we have also pressed the FN and F9 keys to ensure we have not somehow disabled the mousepad function - but that is ok too.
One thing I forgot to mention is when the laptop first starts up and asks you to enter your laptops password, the mouse (both the Logitech wireless mouse and the built in mousepad mouse) both function normally and it is only when you have logged in that the curser/pointer freezes! Hope that is a little more helpful to those that know about these things!
Aw thanks again peeps for your assistance but great news I have just come off the phone from talking to Toshibas technical support line and the problems now fixed! Phew - thank the lord as that's the laptop which is used for all our business matters, accounts and staff wages etc!
Toshiba's customer support was brilliant and with my consent the technician was able to access our computer and actually investigate the problem. It was kind of spooky watching the mouse pointer whizzing all over the screen like it had a life of its own and quite weird knowing some guy somewhere in another part of the country was able to take control of our computer!!!! Very bizarre but very welcome too!
Anyway, thanks again for those that tried to help and it's times like this that remind me just what a great forum this is.
Not 100% sure what it was - as the guy fixed it all so quickly. He did mention something about another program or software may have caused the mouse to become disabled but he spoke in what to me was quite technical terms and I did not fully understand what he was saying exactly to be honest! LOL I'm totally thick when it comes to technical jargon LOL. I was just so pleased he had fixed it, as my husband had gone off to work all worried thinking he may have a major problem on his hands!
Right now I really must get on as we are off to the NEC motorhome show tomorrow and Ive got to put food in the MH and a few other bits and bobs and if I sit here much longer the day will be gone.
