I've found a list of all the differnt codes that exist for the Sky remote control

There's a lot of duplication in the codes. IE the same code is used for several different makes of telly. I'm looking to condense the list into a sequential list of all the available numbers so that they can be eliminated one by one.

Anyone know how this could be achieved ?

Once I've got the list I'll either go through them all myself Crying or Very sad or recruit some volunteers from MHF Very Happy to help me out Very Happy

I'm doing this purely on the offchance as I've already spoken to Avtex who did'nt take any of the above into account when the built the units.

Any ideas ?

TIA Dave.

I have no idea how I could help with this, but my understanding of the situation - what I've been told by a TV techie - is that the any multi-function TV - ie One with integral DVD and Freeview - is too complicated for a SKY remote. Anyone know for a fact if this is right?

On another note - I have a 'simple' TV with no DVD or integral Freeview that I just cannot find the code for - and I see that the make isn't even listed on 'your' list - it's a Logik bought from Currys. Any ideas?

Any ideas ?

TIA Dave.

Have you tried pressing the interactive button on your Sky remotes? There is a technical help menu there that you can use to search for the correct codes.

You do it from your sky remote as suggested above. You look up the model of your tv on a list on the screen that is sorted by make and then model in a-9 order in both cases. Once you have selected the make of your tv (eg Avtex) you then only have the Avtex models listed with the correct code against each model.

Don't know how much easier you could make it? Wink

I set up a Grundig TV for a relative last weekend and the most difficult bit was crawling round the back the check the model number from the plate.

The I/R codes in Sky remotes are very restricted and you're very unlikely to find one for a relatively obscure brand like Avtex or Logik (also sold under a Matsui badge I think). Most of these TVs are built on Chinese generic chassis suitably badged for retailers. Even the specialist aftermarket remote control specialists won't be able to match many of them.

I believe that some of the top end One4all universal remotes might be able to control some of them (check before you buy) and of course they will aso control a Sky box so that may be the only solution if you want to have a single remote for both devices.

Yes - that's the first thing I did - works for all my other TV's but not for the Logik. I even tried enlisting the help of Currys but they're not really interested.

Sorry, Davesport, I seem to have accidently hijacked your thread.
When I read your question again, I find I don't really understand what you want. Do you mean make some sort of cross reference list? As in such and such number will work with (list of) TV's?

Nae problem TT Smile

What I'm wanting is to take the list of numbers from the site I linked to & make it into a sequential list IE 001 upwards, whilst eliminating all the duplicated numbers. Simples Smile

After that I can start trying out the codes on my remote. I'll do this until I get bored & then probably forget about the whole idea Embarassed
