the mist is slowly lifting .. as a newbie to LPG refilling and getting my head around clawgun, acme and bayonet type fittings I felt a bit "challenged" when I went to refill for the first time in Belgium.
Driving up to the pump with confidence which was clearly marked LPG I proceeded to try and fill.. looking across at the pay booth I noticed the cashier waving frantically ..
I walked over and was told that the pump I was on was for Belgian credit cards ONLY.. She then pointed to another pump across the courtyard.. I reversed out and drove to the cash pump. ..
It gets better, lol.. I tried again to fill but couldn't figure it out.. all instructions were in French.. She came over and said her colleague would assist..
How silly I felt, I had pressed the fill button but didn't realise that you had to hold it until it stopped filling automatically or until you let go of the button..
Ohh well, another lesson in the art of motorhoming but it still puzzles me why ohh why do we have 3 different nozzle types..
Hi scotjimland. There is always something new to learn. Why do they use 3 different fittings to fill LPG? Why do they have so many different languages? Why do they all have different custom's? Soon there will be a standard fitting for LPG trhoughout the EEC. Bet you can't guess what it's going to be?

Hi johnsandywhite good news indeed on the fittings.
I can understand customs and languages, it would be a drab world if we all conformed, this is what makes travelling interesting and fun..
Back to fittings.. I have no idea what the standard will be but I wish it were Acme
Recently bought a UK filling guide from my local garage (Vectra has a LPG conversion) only cost a few quid, will come in handy when I have the refillable fitted to the 'van

You can download it for free. Why pay for something. Of course your answer may be that you have no printer or cannot be bothered?
