There is an orginised Caravan Club Hungary tour starting 23rd May 2010.
Sorry for the list of questions, but has anyone ever used their organised tours ? Without wanting to offend my mates on here, are they full of oldies?
We are normally independent, but know very little about Hungary and fancy a change.

Heads up....DTP, how you doing and how did you go with the camera??

We did a Rhone cruise last Christmas and ended up with Italians in their 80's, maybe we are a little sensitive.

Cheers all,

Phil K

The Caravan Club tours are in fact run by GB Privilege. You will find a number of MHF members who have been on GB Privilege tours, including Mrs Roy and myself.
They are not the cheapest; because the dates are often outside the normal holiday periods they tend to attract more mature and well-heeled motorhomers. The two tours we went on this year had participants who were almost entirely 50-plus in age.
I also like to free-lance but the main attractions of the GB Privilege tours are that the campsites are pre-vetted and pre-booked, so that my habit, when freelancing, of getting to the campsite at around 4pm, at the latest, isn't necessary. We were arriving at anything up to 7pm, knowing that our pitch was guaranteed, and doing an appropriate amount of extra sightseeing en route. The other attraction for us is the coach tours with English speaking guides of the more interesting places where we stayed, and this it something that can be a hassle to arrange when you are freelancing - not impossible, but a hassle. We were shown round the Harz Mountains, Dresden, Colditz, Berlin, Porto, Coimbra, Lisbon and Fatima in eight separate day trips on our two tours, generally with outstanding guides. This is something that might not have happened if we had been on our own.
Next year we are booked to go to Barcelona and Rioja in May, and Switzerland in September with GB Privilege. We shall also be freelancing in June, July, August and October so that we get the best of both worlds.

Dr (musical, not medical) Roy
