Prompted by one of the current threads, can the Motorhome Logbook be expanded to allow fault reports to be made against mileage in three categories:

Chassis
Manufacturers build
Auxillary equipment

A searchable database would be an asset to the site and could prove a very useful enhancement for subscibers.

Obviously it would depend on members entering faults. I am no database expert but could it not be based on the software used to run the campsite database but I envisage you would not need so many fields.

In order of entry I would say

Manufacturer:
Model:
Chassis:
Mileage:
Fault location: pull down menu to select , Chassis, Manufacturers build or
Auxillary equipment.

Clearly you could create sub fields for these higher level fields e.g. for Chassis, that of engine, transmission, vehicle electrics but perhaps for Manufacturers build you would not need to.

Fault type e.g. gearbox failure

Remarks

There may well be off the shelf software available which could be used. Certainly many companies run fault reporting systems.

If there was indeed a demand for this type of thing then clearly it would need thought against a goal of trying to provide reliability information by say Manufacturer, Model and Chassis, with the possibilty of being able to drill down further. e.g search for all faults on a chassis type and filter by engine, transmission or electrics??????

I like the sound of this one, he has the force.

it would be great to have a database of items found in the MH, from differing makers, we could then make a more informed purchase and it should improve the breed.

I do hope you are not referring to my little pal Wups.

I think you could soon be off his Christmas card list

Actually the avatar reminds me of the rotary Wankel engine.
