Please help!!!!

I am planning a Motorhome trip which includes meeting up with family members in Budapest from 5th May 2010, but the two 'central' campsites which would be ideal (Orion & Haller) don't seem to open until 10th May. Does anyone know of any alternatives which would be open (as central as possible) or any 'wild camping' venues near the centre of Budapest????
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Ken

Hi,

We stayed at Orion Camping last year. A bit basic but in a good position for central Budapest via the metro once you've found the campsite Smile

It was in June but they had some cabins there - I think used by workers so may be open earlier.

Whilst there a French MH arrived late in the evening. They had parked in central Budapest for the day and their van had been completely emptied so all they had were the clothes they were wearing Crying or Very sad

We also stayed at Pap-Sziget camping at Szentendre about 20km north but with transport connections.

They may be open longer as they have accomodation blocks and bungalows as well (and a possible connection with Orion Camping as they gave us details of it.

Steve

Was in Budapest a couple of weeks ago and wild camped behind Parliment next to the Danube! The aire there is not worth bothering with and the campsite we saw was dire.... Niche camping is open all year but is flippin' expensive

See our link/blog for info and GPS of the route which may be of use.

Hope this helps

The Niche does cost a bit more than you might like (£26per night for 1 van, 2p, with leccy) but it's a quaint little place with a bus stop for the city centre nearby (free public transport for over 65s), bar and basic restaurant, free wi-fi and nice people - and you get a free breakfast!
