I like a small camera that l can keep in my pocket. I have a Casio Exlim 7 megs. We have just been to Disney Paris over the new year and the night shots are rubbish. It has settings for night time but with all the bright lights of Disney as well they didnt come out good. We did some black and white and they were fine. I put all my pictures into scrapbooks of our journeys so my photos are very important to me. My husband has an SLR so dont need one of them. Can any one suggest a good one Thanks

Hi Dawn.
My wife and I both have Casio Z60 cameras and so far are very happy with them. Even the night shots if you can plan ahead to set the flash intensity to +2 before you use them at night.

The largest area we can light up so far has been inside a church. Without the +2 setting you only lit the next three rows of people but with the setting increased it showed everyones faces.

Ray.

What shooting mode or manual aperture/shutter settings did you use?

Have a look at the Canon s90 (not cheap), it looks like it takes very good low light images with it's f/2.0 lens and useful iso range.

I do not own this camera, just done alot of research on it.

I had it on night scene. Have put it to the +2 and will give it a try tonight.
Thanks Dawn

It's vitally important to hold the camera very still.
Brace it on a hard surface when shooting. Wink

It's not usually the fault of the camera.

Use a tripod or place camera on a solid base (wall. post etc.). Turn flash off and use self-timer so there is no movement. The exposure time will be long but the result should be ok.

Cheers

Brian

I agree with previous comments.
Any newish camera with a "night scene" setting should give reasonable results but you must use a tripod and self timer to avoid camera movement.
Took this at Xmas with my wifes Panasonic TZ6 on a tripod "night scene" setting.
