Arriving in the dark we found Marine Parade in Dover to be an ideal spot for overnighting before, or after, a ferry crossing. There are no services but its free. About a dozen vans were there at the same time as us so it seems very popular.
The morning daylight confirmed what a great spot this is! Just a stone's throw from the beach and with a great view of Dover harbour with all its ferry comings and goings whilst enjoying breakfast. I wanted to try out a new lens on my camera so I stepped down onto the rock hard frozen pebble beach to capture the wintry beach scene.
À tous mes amis du forum thankyou pour toutes vos pensées agréables et avec son amour derrière moi je lutterai contre mon conflit avec un esprit de postive et le triomphe
Let us know where in the south, how it goes, where you stay, what the weather is like, some updated photos.
Happy & safe travels,
TM.
Thanks TM We're parked up for the night now outside the Mairie at Villaines les Rochers - A Troglodyte village famous (apparently) for its basket making. Photos to follow, probably on my blog depending on how much wifi I can scrounge

Have a good trip ---we still have snow around it seems we got hit the most this time in this corner of South East.
Has been misty, dull and damp actually But this morning is cold and bright - long may the sunshine continue!
Obtaining water has been a challenge as most supplies have been turned off as well as EHUs so self sufficiency has been the order of the day.
Off to Nersac later today then onto Mimizan Plage for a couple of days or so if the sun remains
Sounds great!
Wish I was there, no work here just bills at the moment.
WATER:
We were in St Lary Soulan in January. Averaged -6 overnight. One night it was very cold, about -16. Staying at Rioumajou Camping I kept hauling water from the heated shower blocks. The day before we left, just out of curiosity I opened the tap next to the van.
