My beloved Humax 9200 last night started to have problems with poor signal on most channels.
I decided to retune and it found NO channels. I checked the aerial and it was fine so its not that.
Everything else works ie playing recorded programmes, its just the loss of all channels.
Any ideas folks?
PS when's the new freeview HD PVR coming out?
Twinky,
It is possible that the tuner has gone down, but unlikely that both have failed together. Have you done a default reset? if not try that. If that fails then you could try to contact Humax on 0844 669 8800.
The Freeview HD PVR is not now due into stores until May 2010.
Gerry
Not strictly on-topic as mine's a 9300T but since the successful OAD software update a few weeks back (for the 9300T), mine has behaved flawlessly - no freezes, no crashes, no missed recordings!
I do hope the 9200T problem gets sorted for you Twinky whether it's just your unit or a more generic problem.
Thanks for the info on the Humax HD PVR Gerry. I have a lot of time for Humax (as you know) but you won't be surprised that I don't intend to be an early adopter! Anyway "due into stores in May" - so that's actually in stores July with luck then and properly sorted in time for Xmas!
Cynicism rules OK!!!
So I'll probably have one just in time for the arrival of HD transmissions here.
Roger,
I understand your misgivings about being an early adopter of the new technology. So does SWMBO, she has a house full of prototypes and early production units.
What I can tell you is that the Freeview HD units, whether they are set top boxes, integrated TVs or PVRs will be the most tested and most rigorously regulated AV products ever to come to market in the UK.
The regulations do not allow a unit to appear on the shelves of any retailer displaying the FreeviewHD logo without first having undergone the full DTG testing suite at their lab near Epsom. There will be no more self certification by the manufacturers.

I must say that this sounds like very good news. I hope it won't be too long before Freeview HD transmits from Caldbeck. Roger

Don't have a date to hand, but they did an upgrade to the signal last Thursday at Caldbeck to help to eliminate cross transmission as power is stepped up. Testing shows that the installation was successful and this facility will be rolled out nationwide. Will help those on WinterHill getting unwanted Welsh transmissions.

Gerry I have tried the factory default and nowt, nadda, SFA. I have tried retuning and no success.
As you say cant understand why BOTH tuners would fail at the same time but I spose its possible. I will ring the number you gave thanks.
I cant wait for the Freeview HD PVR. Is it going to be around £300 with a 500GB HD do you know?
They are broadcasting in London and Manchester now arent they? They will then transmit from B'ham and others before the world cup in June apparently. Do you think I will be able to get the signal in south staffordshire? I think Im between the wrekin and sutton coldfield.
Im also a fan of Humax. Most other electronic companys make you buy the new model when features improve whereas Humax do the upgrades via OTA upgrades. I hope they continue in this vein.
How do you know your aerial / lead is alright? Try it at someone else's house. We had a new aerial and lead fitted recently and the fitter said that water gets in the cable at the connection on the aerial and runs down lead and corrodes it.
