Can anybody please recommend a MH TV engineer somewhere to the west of London.

I am only getting ,at best, a very weak signal from my Status 530 aerial. TV is fine on DVD so believe it is the signal feed which is at fault.

Thanks in advance for any replies

HI Geoff,

Any competent TV Aerial installer or TV engineer should be able to sort it.

Before you pay anyone there are a couple of fundamental checks:
1. Does the TV work correctly on an aerial in your house, or if you do not have an aerial anyone elses aerial? If it does then there is nothing wrong with the TV or its tuner.
2. Are you aligning the aerial correctly? For correct alignment, get the compass bearings from www.digitaluk.co.uk
3. Are you certain that the sites that you have gone to have a good TV reception? Check for reception at www.digitaluk.co.uk
4. Is the booster for the Status aerial switched on and working? Also check that it is not set to low power.
5. If you disconnect the aerial from the status amplifier and connect it direct to the TV, does anything change? Better or worse?
6. Have you checked the coaxial plugs at each connection? One strand from the screen touching the central core can make the difference between a good and bad aerial.
7. Every time you change location, you must carry out a First Time Installation or Factory reset. If you fail to do this your TV will show no signal as it is still looking for the tuned signal at your last location.
To get accurate TV reception always check the postcode for your location at:
www.digitaluk.co.uk
enter the postcode and then tick the box to say that you are in the aerial installation trade. The next page will give reception predictions and the compass bearing for the aerial.
If, after all of that you still have a poor reception it is possible that your amplifier may be faulty. Speak to Grade UK in Nottingham and they are likely to send you a new unit in exchange.

Gerry thanks - I will be working through your checklist tomorrow

Peter, if I fail to solve problem with Gerry's checklist, I am not sure if ANY domestic installer will be familiar with the Status aerial and booster and its 12v supply, because I doubt they are used in houses, which is why I asked for MH TV engineer.

Hi Geoff,

Just follow Gerrys very concise instructions, there is nothing else!

As far as a normal TV engineer and MH installations, they are not rocket science in the way they work, its basically a TV aerial with a booster amplifier same as in a normal domestic installation.
