They are starting to push Freeview HD in a big way starting this weekend.
Watch out for those who bought HD-ready Freeview TVs at Christmas when it dawns on them they didn't follow caveat emptor and can't see HD via Freeview without buying a new and separate box .....
Those of us who can get HD( via Virgin) are not that impressed with it and less impressed with the small range of programmes currently available. So far, apart from the symbol in the top left corner, we can't tell the difference in clarity or sound.

We have spoken about it at length and for sure the retailers will be blamed for misleading the customer.
The information has been available for a long time, up to a couple of weeks ago, the only TVs that could receive and display an HD picture without any other equipment were the ones with freesat built in, but there have been no accusations about misleading the public there. The launch of Freeview has been kept low key at the insistence of Freeview and the regulators, OFCOM. And of course there is a shortage of supply.
Fact is that the only ones who are complaining are those who are following the campaigning reporters in the press. The average customer in stores accepts that progress will always mean that there is a new system.
You wait, any week now someone on here will complain that they bought a Freeview HD TV for Easter and nobody told them that if they waited 8 weeks they could have bought a 3D TV.

Seriously, HD is stunning. But you have to be closer to the screen, and if there is a lot of movement, have a 200Hz refresh rate.
Dave
The theory of 200hz and 600hz is great, but all they do is to display several artificially constructed images for each real image. This increases digital noise. In fact one manufacturer advertises 600hz, but what they actually do is to show one genuine frame and then display another 11 identical frames for each refresh.
Can understand 100hz and it can look stunning if you turn off all of the digital noise reduction, but anything above 100hz gets lost because the brain cannot process any quicker.
Gerry
Well there you go. Personally I think Sony 200Hz TV's give a better HD picture than the 100Hz ones, the latter with or without "Motion-Flow" processing.

Are you connected by an HDMI cable? Your TV is not by default using a SCART connection.
The improved sound is only noticeable if you connect to an amp using an optical cable and not using your TV's speakers.
