Hi all

Were hoping to stay on a couple of Austria's campsites next winter in our small converted panel van, so any info would help towards these sites listed below. To be honest all look great but can only stay in 2 campsites, so where trying to short list

i.e
whats the roads like into the camp?
how close to the ski slopes?
can you walk to the village/town?
is there alot to do in the towns?
whats the facilities like ?

as mentioned any advice would help

Thanks guys

Comfort Camping Stubai.

Not stayed at the camp itself, but in a nearby hotel. There are a number of shops, bars and hotels in the village. There is a well stocked supermarket adjacent to the site and a couple of cafes.

The site is in the village on a slight slope and the roads are good out of Innsbruck, if a little winding but nothing drastic. There are ski lifts on the east side of the village and not far away. The Stubaier Glacier, with its 3 lifts to the top, are 11 miles away. Suffers from low cloud in the valley from time to time, so views of the surrounding scenery are variable.

I'm intending staying at this very site in late June, this year. Short drive from here to the Brenner Pass and I'll be taking the old road through it to Lake Garda.

Haven't stayed at them , but spent 3 weeks in Seefeld this winter. firstly, the whole area is VERY well served by buses, and nowhere takes very long to get to. If you are downhilling, the buses are free, if not you can get a bus pass for 10 euros, which covers the whole area for whatever length of time you are staying. There are several downhill areas, so wherever you are, you are likely to want to use the bus.

Camping Leutasch is a bit out on a limb for downhilling, but ideal for cross-country. Leutasch is a hamlet.10 minutes by bus to the downhill area. Camping Alpin is by one of the main lifts, the Birkenlift, and is about 10 minutes walk from Seefeld centre. Lots of facilities in Seefeld. All the campsites in the area are very busy in the winter - booking advisable - and have excellent facilites. Roads to the area are fine.

Hi Snuff
In a small van you'll be fine, but Austria was fairly quiet when we were there in Nov/Dec last year. They also have a lot of aires which you may be able to use. If you use them its worth buying bordatlas as that will say when they are open (some were closed).
Our site has some GPS points for Austria and some wild camping bits we found.
Some stunning places over there...
