Hi all,

Newbie here.

I'm looking to venture into higher-end DSLR photography, having previously only used models in the £200-300 range. I've stumbled across this model - http://www.camera-suppliers.com/u/pp/dslra380-dt-18-55-mm/dslra380l/29 34297 - and wonder if it would be a good stepping stone? Anyone with any experience of it - is it a quality camera?

Thanks in advance!

No experience of Sony's but have you got a sony now?
If not you'll probably be changing all your lenses too and could work out expensive

I've just bought the near-identical A330, which is a badge-engineered A380 for Jessops. They are doing a great deal on the A330 with an additional telephoto lens from Tamron.

It's my first DSLR although I used to have a Russian film SLR (FED) which I loved.

So far it feels great and seems to do far more than I will ever need. The autofocus is quick and the quality of pictures is far better than the aging compact I have been using.

I bought the A330 on the recommendation of Which? Say no more....

Sony DSLRs were originally designed and built by Minolta who have a long reputation for quality in the industry. Sony have now taken over the build for themselves, albeit with the same design and technology as Minolta intend to re-enter the DSLR market.
