On Monday I treated myself to a Panasonic twin freesat and Blu-Ray recorder with hard drive, one of these:
http://tinyurl.com/37mzes8
I have it connected to a Sandstrom 46" LED backlit TV, which I have at home on field test and the picture is absolutely stunning. Much better than anything else that I have connected to this TV.
With 1080p upscaling on everything including freesat SD transmissions, it really brings out the best of a high quality panel. I took a long time to think about it and am blown away with the quality.
Must be good, I don't normally pay for these things.
BTW, yes I do have a vested interest, but the TV is here:

Thanks for that Gerry..

Do you know if it is real time transfer to disk or is it quicker ?

What dish would you recommend to pair up with it (for home use)?

Thanks Neil

Neil,
High speed transfer to DVD or Blu-Ray is available. The book quotes 1 hour of video to Blu-Ray in 1 minute 24 seconds.

Neil,
From Croydon any dish will do as long as you have clear vision to the South East.
I was born and bred in Croydon, mainly on the Shrublands Estate in Shirley. Went to School at Croydon Technical School in Pampisford Road. Whereabouts are you?
Gerry

Edited to say that I missed the link, that is what I paid at Currys on Monday. They may have stock at Currys at Purley Way, I can check stock in the morning.

Neil,
Just checked, the only stock is a display model at Currys in Purley Way. This model is now end of line, which explains the price reduction (originally £799). If it is complete it may be worth haggling.

I will go and have a look.

I work directly behind Comet on the Purley way.

Went to Ashburton high school.

grew up in Davidson road in Addiscombe.

Then moved to the top of Gravel hill. (Ballards Farm)

Spent most of the Ninety's in the Crown on Wickham Road, with a few visits to the Goat and Shirley inn.
Cheers
Neil
