Hi everyone. I bought an Espirit Globtrotter RT7094 on a Renault base in April. When we drove it back from the dealer I originally thought there was a window open as the draught was so bad. My wife investigated as I drove and found that the draught (gale) was coming from the (fully closed) sunroof above the lounge/seating area.

We stopped off at a subsidiary of the dealers (3A Caravans in South Wales) and were told that the seal is only put half way around all Dethleff sunroofs and that this was normal. If we had further concerns we could bring it back at a later date.

On our first trip away, with our 10 year old son in the back, the cold air being blown into the habitation area was so bad that he needed a blanket to keep warm, and when it started to rain at motorway speeds, speckles of water are blown into the lounge. We have to keep the blackout blinds closed when we travel in cold and/or wet weather.

The 'van is currently in for examination, but a conversation with a mechanic yesterday has alarmed me as he said there is nothing that can be done, as all Dethleff sunroofs are like this.

I have emailed Dethleff today, and wondered if anyone else had a similar problem and or solution.

I cannot accept the dealers explanation and want to get my facts right before I am 'fobbed off' after spending a considerable sum of money on an otherwise fantastic van that will be unusable in the winter if the explanations I have had so far are true.

Please help! Evil or Very Mad

Hi Grant,

does the front "sunroof " open ?
Does it have a channel that the "Front" draught seal sit in?

If the answer to this is yes , then pull/lever the draught excluder off and position it " in the part that aint got any".

If it fits and the roof closes okay then there talking CRAP.

our Dethleffs RT6844 had only the mid opening Heiki [2005] and part of the draught excluder was missing -sound familiar.

well I just bought a new lenght from Dometic 3mts I think aroung £30.00 so not cheap. Removed old length and cleaned channel then just puched on cut to lenght and never had a draught again even down to -16c.

What happens in my opinion is they fir the original in 2 parts and when the windows opened for air when driving [bad move ] they just blow off Surprised .

best of luck and pm me for more help.

Thanks Tramp

The sunroof does open, haven't noticed any channels, but I will have another good look.

Did your original seal extend 2/3 across the front and over one half the side? I looked at new models and they seemed to do this.I wondered if we have a sunroof with inadequate fitting into the roof itself?

I may come back to you when I collect the van on Monday

Thanks again Very Happy
