Our Mk7 chassis with the 140 hp 2.2 litre engine was supplied with a service book showing that the service intervals for all Transits was 1 year /15,000 miles except the 140 hp engine which was twice that.
Subsequently Jane bought a new Ford car and when I recently took it for its first service, I happened to look in the service book and saw that all Transits are 1 year/ 15,000 mile service intervals except the 140 hp 2.4 litre engine which is 2 years / 30,000 miles.
After much toing and frowing with Ford the only explanation I could get was that our 2.2 litre definitely needs annual servicing and that the service book we got was probably printed anticipating the new 2.4 litre engine and before the 2.2 litre engine upgrade to 140 hp was available Rolling Eyes
I would be interested to know what other 2.2 litre 140 hp owners' service book say and to hear any other relevant comments Cool

Hmm, that's interesting.

Does anyone out there know if the 2.2 130 can be upgraded to 140 via the ECU?

I shall pose the same question on the Ford Transit forum.

A two-year service interval seems a bit long to wait for an oil change.

You're dead right Exclamation
When I was running company cars, I had Audis doing >25k between services and at the end of the period the oil was like treacle with all the insolubles (ie dirt which = wear). Despite the clever anti - wear, anti- aging, anti -whatever properties, they will still have the the same amount insolubles in as "conventional" mineral oils and I don't believe many automotive oil filters take enough of the dirt out to keep diesel engines safe in the long term. But of course that is not the concern of the leasing companies who sold them on at < 50k miles. Rolling Eyes
So for me 15k miles is more than long enough and it is interesting to note that Honda still stick with 12.5k.

My service book says exactly that - all transits EXCEPT 140PS to have service at 1 year/15000miles. 140PS transits have a variable service interval based on oil level/temperature sensors up to 2 years/30000miles.

I phoned a Ford dealer and they said that although this was correct thay recommend an oil change at 1 year for my 140 - which is what Ive had done.

Yes.... but is your 140hp engine the "old" 2.2 litre or the "new" 2.4 version?

I think that no matter what Ford say, common sense would say at least every year for oil changes. Wink

l think you will find RWD 140 is the 2.4 Eng and the FWD 140 is the 2.2 and as said the RWD is 2yrs 30000mls and the FWD is 1yr 15000mls. Had both.

The point I was making was that the service book only talked about 140 hp not 2.2 or 2.4 litre and that people should be aware that "140 hp" referred to the 2.4 and that 2.2 owners should be aware.
