We have a 19 inch LCD Ferguson TV in our bedroom in the house - now I have occasion to be up and floating around sometimes at 3am now this tv is freaky.

It's usually on standby, the blue light at the bottom goes off and the whole screen flashes a bright flash then the blue light comes on really really bright for about 30 seconds and it does this every night without fail at 3am ok sometimes its 3.01 am or 2.59 am but its starting to freak me out now.

Anyone know why it does it? and yes I do unplug it quite often now due to being a scaredy cat.

What with this TV and the blinking bus slamming shut its windows - am contemplating moving permanently into van on drive!

Does it have Freeview installed within the TV? Could it be doing operating system or program updates at a pre-set time?

I thought I was the only one with a haunted telly!

Our bedroom TV does a similar thing, always at 3am - if it's left on stand-by, at 3am it jumps into life on a radio channel - never on the channel it was on when it was switched off.

It only freaks me out if I'm on my own.

ahhhhh so am not going potty then! yes it has built in freeview. It doesn't actually come on just flashes on the screen a bright light and the standby light is very bright.

No other TV does it though we have had a Sony and Technika in there. Very strange indeed Sherlock!

I'm sure its the Freeview updating itself. If you read the manual (whats that? I here you ask Laughing ) you will probably find a chapter about not swithching the tv off at the wall so that the updating can happen at 3a.m.

It could have an alarm system built in - some small LCDs have this facility!!

I don't know about freeview boxes but Sky boxes update during the night and switch off automatically, but we don't leave the TV on standby.
