As a newcomer to MH's We have steadily learnt the points needed to enjoy our new motorhome. But we have an ongoing problem with our freeview tv. Its a JVC and we have tried to use it in the Lake District and Pocklington Yorks but to no avail. Each time we turn it on, push the aerial up and turn it slowly all we get on screen is NO SIGNAL. I tried to re-tune but only got the 3 mains channels, all were very poor pictures, what am I doing wrong ??? It is a normal tv not on of these specialised motorhome/caravan tvs as our dealer said a normal one would be fine. I took it to them and they fitted for me in our new MH and when we had our walkthrough, the salesman turned it on and picture was perfect and all the freeview channels were there ???
Please help us lol

What aerial are you using? If it is a 530 are you switching on the amplifier? What I do when I get on site is to look at the direction of other aerials, their direction and polarisation (vertical/horizontal)
Any TV should work

Happy Holidays to everyone for 2012
The above is only a personal opinion

Assuming the aerial is working and there is digital coverage then I think you are getting it to tune on analogue TV channels and not freeview [Digital] ones. When you select Menu and search is there the option to select analogue or digital?
The link below for a JVC TV shows in step 2 that 'Digital' should be selected - perhaps yours is the same??
How do you switch on the amplifier? there is a box inside the cupboard and all I can remember the dealer saying was make sure the red light is on, on the box, which it was, our walkthough of our MH was rushed to say the least. Yes I have found the Digital set up on screen but no joy !

Assuming your Tv has a digital tuner you will need to select that tuner before you start tuning. Select Digital or DTV from the source or input selector option.
Next thing to do is to clear all previous tuning memory. If you fail to do this the TV will assume that the last tuned frequencies still apply and will therefore show No Signal if you are in a different location. You can clear tuning memory by doing a Factory reset or a Fisrt Time Installation. One of those options will appear in the menu structure.
Finally you must have the aerial pointing in the right direction with the booster box switched on. To get the right direction, I always check before I leave home. If you know the postcode for the site that you are going to, enter it into the postcode checker here:
www.digitaluk.co.uk
Then tick the box that says that you are in the aerial installation trade. The next page will show the transmitters available at the postcode and the compass bearing for the aerial. Turn the aerial to that bearing and tune your TV.
Do this every time you change location.

We have a freeview box with our analogue Tv, both 12v and suitable for Mhome (as against domestic TV) Each new place we have to retune and so far Lake District, Scotland, Yorkshire Midlands and down south always had results.
Brian does have a book which tells him if area has gone digital, which way to have aerial (horizontal/vertical) and where signal is coming from - works better than looking at fellow campers!!
Hope this helps
You need to tune it in the same as you would do for the terrestrial channels, put it on auto-tune and away it goes when on the correct channel - fair assumption if you are getting the "No Signal" you are on the right one I would say.
