Can anyone recommend some competent software for compiling the movie end of a 'time lapse' project?

I've got my EOS, tripod and intervalometer...... and I am ready to have a go. Shocked

Does 'Photoshop' do this or am I looking at Pinnacle/Adobe Premiere........... or something completely different.

There isn't a tsunami of advice on the web, and at this stage I don't want to 'shell out' £70-£100 on a specialist programme if something else will do the job.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Barry

Barry - I think that you are looking at a movie programme to do this. It's a simple stitching process through the time-line which even the most inexpensive movie programme can do. A lot of computers come with a cheap programme ready installed, have you checked for this?

If you do have to purchase a new programme make sure that it can a) Accommodate still images, b) Vary the time each still image is shown and c) Can dissolve between those images.

Ron

You can use Windows Movie Maker, which you probably have on your PC, so it shouldn't cost you anything. Here's a tutorial:

If you can't find it just do a search on your PC for Movie Maker. It may be called Windows Live Movie Maker.

Much appreciated ob1 and Hobbyfan.

I had been going around in circles on Photo forums, with comments that Windows Movie maker isn't fast enough at 0.125 secs, but now I can see there is a 'speed up' effect.

Thanks again. I am much clearer now.

If you have Vista on your computer - put all the pictures you want to "Movie" into one folder open the folder and right click on one and select "preview" and one of the options above that should be "make a movie".

It depends a bit on how many frames you are dealing with and what the destination of the presentation is to be.
If you are dealing with comaparatively small numbers, you may find it worth considering one of the GIF applications. Here are some links that might serve your needs:
www.metasphere.net/web_tools/29.html
www.gamani.com
en.kioskea.net/download/download-69-beneton-movie-gif

Another alternative which could be used is PhotoStory3. This is primarily a slideshow utility but I have used it with time lapse. Similar and better but only free for short presentations is Picturestoexe5.5
Good luck - what a lot of possibilities and where did the time go???
