I'd like to suggest a new section in the Reviews Section. I know we now have a Wheels & Tyres section in the Tech/Mech part, but it seems to me that it's really hard to dredge through what everyone has written about particular brands. How about a Tyre Review similar to the Tyretest website (www.tyretest.com) but specifically geared to Motorhome tyres ?

Members could rate their tyres out of 5 (where 5 is lowest, 1 Highest) on such areas as Dry Grip/Dry Braking/Wet Grip /Wet Braking/ Grip on wet grass/ Grip on Snow etc. These could then be averaged to give a score for each area. Sure it would be somewhat subjective, but might provide everyone with the "global opinion" on each tyre type.

Good Idea!I am looking to replace my tyres on my Ford Transit Bucaneer Caravel. The ones fitted are Goodyear Cargo which are like new after 22k miles. They have on the sidewall 2800.which I assume means that they were made in AUG2000!They show no signs of cracking.tread delamination etc but heed the warnings on this forum of changing tyres after 7 years!!I would prefer a tyre that gave a good quiet ride as to one that was good on wet grass!or winter use! What do others reccomend?

Great Idea.

Would not mind betting that Michelins new camper tyre would come top of the reviews. Only so that the buyers could justify the ludicrous extra cost.

This is a good starting point with a couple of good external links as well.

Hints on tyres and some reviews

The external links take you to a review of tyres and some advice on tyre selection.

Thanks Steve, that's a really useful bit of information. But what I had in mind was to try and get people's opinions of what they're running on.

I'm currently on Continental Vanco 2s, which are really good at speed in the dry & the wet, but have a really hard ride. On my last panel van, I changed to Goodyear Cargos, which seem to give a softer ride, as well as being very good in the wet.

I'm quite taken with the look of the Nokian W2, and I've heard good reports of the Toyo HO9.

If we had a comparative database being built up, it would at least give a bit more basis for making decisions. Which is what I find difficult as I get older!
