Hi all,
First Motor Home!

Nearly there in a refurb of an elderly 1989 LHD Eura Mobil, J5 Peugeot cab, about 6.10 Metres long, end galley.
Got the gas side of the fridge overhauled today, fortunately all done through a side grille, which I removed.
Thinking of changing from Butane 28mBar to Propane 37mBar as apparently the van originally was 50mBar German standard.
I've tried to light the water Truma Ultraheat boiler lots of times .I get a red light after 10 seconds. This is a big improvement on nothing, which was the case till I replaced the internal fuse (1) on the PCB.
The gas blow air has been replaced with a new S3002 which likes the butane ok.Some very odd wiring colours on 12V side like blue for live?
I'm hoping that the water boiler will light on Butane as it is maybe in the van since new.Any comments will be most welcome and appreciated!
I lit all three rings whilst attempting the boiler start and there was no difference in the flame.Expect there is some solenoid which will have to be checked out for operation.
So we may be able to take to the roads of Ireland in the next few days if all checks out safely.

Hi again all,

Perseverance paid off after two days of battle with the Truma Ultraheat.I test assembled the burner without the boiler and with no gas.Piezo spark was fine and the gas solenoid showed it was working as I blew into the gas jet line to prove it was passing air in this case.Thought, great, reassemble all nice and clean now.
Still lockout!
Having googled a lot, some kind chap recommended going over the PCB with a small soldering iron.Did this, same result, lock--out! Grr!
Then I noticed that although somebody had fitted chocolate bar connectors to the PCB, it was possible to prise off the original connectors direct on the board.I found a loose wire! joy! Resoldered this which was one side of the flame sensor unit.Bingo! No lockout!
So with Hot water, heating, big batteries, fridge on gas, looks like the useability index has shot up!
Now for a nice cuppa!

Well done you. It is so satisfying when you solve a tricky problem yourself such as the one you have described.
Happy motorhoming.

Thanks Bob45 for your good wishes,

We have had two trips now in the Eura Mobil (J5) and they both went well.First to Rosslare Strand in Wexford, overnighted in town (beach) car park.
Bit more ambitious last week, Dublin to Dunfanaghy (Donegal) via Drumshanbo, and Killybegs, Gortahork etc. and returned via Letterkenny to Enniskillen for an overnight there, Thence back to Drumshanbo (Leitirm) for a service stop, and next day home to Dublin.
936Km all told and it seemed to do the engine a power of good.Used a product called Dipathane (I think that is it's name) in the fuel to clean the injectors, and this seems to have promoted smoother running.
So the refurbishment has been a success, even if some detail work remains outstanding, we will tackle this in springtime.

Hi joe-fly, just bought ourselves a 1991 Peugeot J5 Euramobil. We're COMPLETE novices, and I have no idea about even the most general of maintenance...
We're in Wexford and just wondered if you knew of any garages over here that you'd recommend for refurbishment/maintenance?
Much appreciated.
