Hi

Would like to upgrade the rear suspension with Air suspension on our 2008 Autosleeper County Berkshire on a Mercedes Sprinter automatic 315cdi chassis.

Have just seen the AL-KO air ride system. Who would install this.

Has anyone had any experience of this please

Take care

Delboy

I self fitted Airide to my 05 sprinter 316cdi i know its a previous model but i expect the rear suspension is very similar, if you have some mechanical ability its not hard it took about one and a half hours to do the first side and less than an hour to do the other side the instructions from Airide were clear and helpful.
Its a different vehicle with it fitted, no body roll, lots better at those tight French roundabouts, although it understandably is harsher at the back, i found balancing the airpressure with the weight did the trick.

Agree - vastly improved handling on rear end on our Hymer 640 some years back, which was the old 2.9 version. You can adjust the pressure to get a good balance between ride and body roll.

On ours, the valves were fitted in the passenger stepwell, which meant you could adjust it when you blew the tyres tyres up. We found that about 35 llbs psi did the trick.

Go for it.

Its the best thing we've done to our van.

Handling so much better now than before.

Hi delboy0127

I fitted the Dunlop system sold by Marcle leisure which included the compressor tank & dash instruments

the only reason for this installation was the sidewards rock & roll whilst driving at walking pace across campsites & across pot holed ground

I pump it up when I arrive at a site & deflate it to its minimum pressure of 0.5 bar when I leave

see page 2 of this thread to see my control panel on on the dash

Hello all fellow m/homers

Reading all the recent posts on this airrides issue, had me wondering if this would be an advantage on my 99 A/S Rivenna, but to date nobody has commented so I have asked the question on
hoping somebody will reply.
Regards Pandaman

Suspect this would be a lot less successful, as the Peugeot / Sevel chassi was quite stiffly sprung to start with - you'll probably find that you feel every piece of gravel (rather like the Princess and the Pea - or should that be laptop?)

If yours is a bit bouncy, fitting new shock absorbers might help.

I looked at fitting air suspension to the rear of my Berkshire. I wanted to fit the Glide-Rite 4 bag system which does away with the original leaf springs This unit is approved by MB and is used on Ambulances etc.
The problem was that the water tank was too close to the axle to fit this type. I looked at the Airide type as ride in the Berkshire was awful and the vehicle was just shaking itself to bits. I gave up and got rid of it when a crack appeared in the roof. Incidentaly, I now have a Motorhome based on the MB 416 chassis and the ride in this is a vast improvement.

But the Glide-rite full air is around £6k is it not?
