Currently using a Status Omni aerial (analogue & digital) - with the power pack/amp to cope with both (the red one!)
Am unhappy generally with the Status aerial - and am thinking of getting an 'Image' aerial - which I'll attach to the ladders on the back of the MH.
Questions in, do I need/can I use the current status power pack/amp with the Image aerial? They look exactly the same - but with Image instead of Status written on them....
The status aerial booster is matched to the different aerials, this is why the red boosters do not work on the blue aerials, if you have a vision aerial you can use with or without the booster but should be the vision booster.
I was told this by Grade uk who make the aerials it was a long while ago, I would check with them direct, Harvey the aftersales manager is very helpfull.
Most TV pre-amplifiers are broad band enough to work with any (TV) aerial, so I assume the Status ones are no different. In fact I use mine with an image aerial with no difficulty.
A word about aerials though ... As you travel around the country, different transmitters work on different frequencies, to avoid interfering with each others signals. With this in mind, in order to get the best from your aerial, try to use one that is "broad band", i.e. that will work well across a large range of frequencies. The type to look for is with diminishing lengths of elements, i.e., the elements are longer at the end where the coax goes in, than at the other end. This design is call a "log periodic", and will work better over a wide range of frequencies than a normal "yagi" design.
