We have an A class Arto original weight 3500kg but since uprated to 4100kgs for the usual reasons.

We needed to go through Austria and then visit Austria on a second trip this year. We read all the discussion on the forum and decided that the Go box is ridiculous and we would not buy one.
so chanced it with a vignette for the brief period.

On the second trip we only wanted to visit sudtirol and now understanding the system a little we came in from garmisch-partenkirchen turned off the road before you get to the Motorway and followed the A171 through Innsbruck and up to Zell. Not difficult, bit slow but it cost an extra half hour each way not 80 euros.

Once you are through to Zillertal you prob dont want to use the motorway anyway and so can get to Krimmler and Grossglockner etc without problem and can go back through Zell am See and Bad reichenhall fairly easily

Overall we found Austria very beautiful but a bit of a pain. Apart from the go box, there are very few stellplatz and the campsite people were quite bureaucratic. Weather for August was generally poor with rain most days

We would recommend the stellplatz at Neukirche, gasthof Neukirche ( campng Cars Infos) it has fantastic views, a lovely restaurant and freindly owners. You can stay on SP for 6.50 euros per night refunded if you eat in the Restauarnt.
