I'd like to make a few suggestions concerning the website.

1. When I first access the forum front end, I can hover the mouse over the posting title and get the gist of what it's about.

However, if I jump to 'View posts since last visit' this preview is not available. That means I have to open each post to see what it's about (often the necessarily short title isn't a great lead).

It would be really helpful if we could have the preview available on 'posts since last visit' page.

Because I'm usually working on laptop or netbook, navigation is that bit more awkward than with a normal mouse and I'd like to make these further suggestions:

2. I'd rather read a series of posts on a longer page than have to click through to a new page every 10 contributions. A lot of the space is taken up by the info on the left about the person posting, which, apart from the name, is probably not much read - though I've just noticed Clive Mott is saying he's 21!!

Would it be possible to have the 'extra' information (join date, number of posts etc) show when the mouse hovered over the avatar, for those who were interested? I guess we could then have 15-20 posts per page without it feeling too long.

3. Could we have a little link immediately below the last post, and above the Quick Reply, which will allow us to go to the next page - after all, we really ought to be reading the major part of the post before replying, just in case we're duplicating.

4. Now that I'm on the 'Post' page, here's another!

Perhaps we could have the Preview and Submit buttons alongside the Spellcheck - save more scrolling!

Sorry if this sounds like a rant - it's not meant to be; just constructive suggestions!

Interesting points, JWW.

If you used an Apple laptop, you could drag two fingers across the touchpad to scroll, which is sooooo much better than having to move the mouse pointer across the the slider on side, click and then drag the slider down Wink

Your point on the 'hover' is a good one. I find that very useful.

Gerald

I've been meaning to post about this myself, it would be definite improvement to have the preview facility when viewing posts since last visit.

Like Geraldandannie I have a mac and don't have a problem with the navigation. However, most people don't have this facility and JWW's suggestions have some merit.

Nuke;

The 'Posts since last visit' preview pane works fine, but...

In 'Posts in last 24hrs' I now get a long thin empty preview box when hovvering over posts in there.

Further suggestion

Can there please be a fix for this problem:-

When I am in Recent MH Forum Topics, say the page containing items 31-40, then click on a topic and after wish to return to the 31-40 list by clicking the 'Back' button it returns me to the page listing items 21-30.
