I have failed to find a workshop manual for my van, apparently it is all online at ford and I was only able to find basic details of van. You have to have a business and pay 50e to access more info.

Most urgent task at moment checking batteries under seat. Do you have to remove seat and any tips please

Thanks in anticipation Birdvan

We have a 2007 Duetto T350 base. There is no information in the handbook regarding battery checking.

However

Both the batteries are under the drivers seat the forward one (white Varta) is the auxilliary battery used by AS as the leisure battery and the rear battery is (black and smaller) the main engine battery. The forward battery is just about possible to check with the seat right back and the sliding cover removed. The rear battery is impossible to check without removing the seat (5 bolts) and also the battery retaining strap to get to the middle pair of caps, which is quite difficult to achieve. I actually modified the retaining strap as It seemed ridiculous the amount of work involved in removing it just to top up the battery cells.

Be careful removing the seat as it is very heavy, I lift it slightly then lay it on its back on the bench seat behind.

Good luck

Pete D

On my old Mk6 Transit which basically is the same as the MK 7 I could access the vehicle battery at the rear by sliding the seat forwards and removing the sliding tray.

I could not gain access to the leisure battery which was situated directly in front of the vehicle battery.

So what did I do. Nothing. And that battery was a s good as new after 7 years use.

It would be interesting to know how often the leisure battery needed topping up.

If the do nothing option fails to appeal you could always remove the seat once and then buy a battery that does not require topping up.

Hi.

As we fulltime I top up our 2 leisure batteries every 4 months. We use up to 2 ltrs of water at a time. They are now six & half years old and still hold a good charge.
