Hi, Hope somebody can help me, I am a total fan of Air suspension, I am awaiting the arrival of my new MH which is a Rapido 990 MHV Mercedes Chassis with twin rear wheels, I cannot find any mention of air suspension being fitted to these chassis, I hope someone can enlighten me if it is possible (I hope so) and if so who does it and which system is the best ?.

Hi TM
It is going in part ex, It has done it's job brilliantly and I have not lost much on it, It's not big enough for us now, we need 4 berth with seat belts for 4 minimum so have decided to go up market a bit as it will probably be my last buy, If it had the beds and seat belts I would have kept it, It is brilliant.
By the way can anyone tell me what Chassis it is on, I know it is a Sprinter but which one ?

Sprinter 5 Series 5 Ton upgradable to 5.3 ton Euro V
In Standard form the chassis is 4.6t
Upgradable to 5.0t
Mercedes will issue an upgrade up-to 5300kG's on the 5.0t Chassis. However, they are very fussy about what they offer this up-rate on. Motorhomes are fairly easy to obtain. It is a usually just a paperwork re-issue, subject to the correct tyre LI (load index).
From what I understand, the 5.0t rides better than the 4.6. We have the 5.0t and the ride is lower and better, in my opinion than the 4.6t.
Do makes sure if buying new you get the newer 190BHP V6 that is Euro V. The older stock (like ours) will be Euro IV, 184BHP.
Mercedes claim slightly better MPG for the Auto over the 6 Speed Manual.
I have recently disposed of a 315 single rear axle because the ride was so harsh it literally shook itself to bits.
In its place I now have a 416 with twin rear wheels. The difference in ride is huge. I think that there is no need for air assistance on the rear.
My 416 is upgraded to 5003KG and is branded a Dodge as it has a Winnebago conversion. Whether Winnebago specify a different suspension I do not know.

On the older Dodge/Freightliner Sprinter the Suspension setup was the same as the Mercedes Eurosprinter.
The latest EuroSprinter and Dodge Sprinter are different Chassis with the Dodge having far bigger wheels and tyre setup. The tyres for the Dodge Sprinter are very difficult to obtain in Europe.

Les,
The 9XXM is single rear wheel axle.
990M"H" denotes "Heavy"
That is the Twin Rear Wheels chassis.

Hiya Mate, Getting more and more intel now, I have never had a merc before even though I wanted them, I never found a design I liked.
Yes the one I am getting is the 990 MHV, No idea what the "V" is for though, it has the 3.0 V6 at 190 BHP on the Auto Box, I should get it in December/January and I am making plans to get a few "Toys" fitted on it as it will be my last, I am going to Holland in Feb to get the Auto leveling system fitted from E & P and as you are aware now making plans for the Air suspension, waiting for delivery to see what is biggest awning I can get fitted then will go ahead with that, Already got sat system and Solar Panels so they will be on it even though it has a 1600 efoy fitted as standard.
It is advertised as 4.6 t with 5.0 t upgrade available so I have gone for the upgrade.
I have been surfing the net for a few days to get more info but found nothing on it, When looking at stuff for merc chassis I found loads of stuff but all were for specific chassis, ie 2xx, 3xx, 4xx, 5xx, 6xx, NCV3 but i couldn't find the chassis type on this model.
