Hi all, a friend brought me a leaflet the other week concerning the Unwin Power Step, PS5-60C, cost £1,667.

Has anyone seen these steps demonstrated at any of the recent shows, my friend had the leaflet from the last Shepton Show.
Our van is a swift 600s, and from ground level to entry into the living space it is 27 inches,we have a double retractable step, but due to the Wifes disability she just cannot use the steps.
The Power step has a lift of 24 inches, and will lift up to 25 stone and is supposed to be quite stable, and runs off of a 12volt supply.

If anyone has seen these Power steps demonstrated, what was your opinion, worth the money, too bulky, or to heavy, or too slow, or just the job for a disabled person to get in and out of the van,any comments appreciated, or if you knoww of something similar at a lower price, let me know,

Mike and Pearl

Yes just purchased a used one and they are fantastic solved our problem of a variety of different types of steps which proved diffiucult to use .
we have a caravan not a motorhome and is ideal and easy to use
highly recommend these but at a shade over £2k for the standalone option - very expensive.
They are not slow (depends of conditon of your van battery)
and at 26 kilos not light but manageable.

They are a must for people who cannot manage cvan/motorhome
steps as there is simply no other option. Unless you convert your
vehicle for ramps (wider door) etc.

Hi

We have a Powerstep for sale if anyone is interested. We bought it in August 2010 (£2200) and have used it about five times. It's great and does the job really well.

Only reason for the sale is due to Hubby's health, we have had to give up the 'van.

Please email if interested and would like to know more - j_sergison@sky.com

Hi
We did try one and found that you needed some upper body strength and the ability to stand still with very little support on a small platform.
Though it was stable on a hard flat surface as soon as you tried to use it on any surface that was not flat and level or soft so one side started to dig in you were in trouble.
So give it a good try first, I guess it depends on the severity of the users disability.
I also seem to remember seeing something about dolphin going into liquidation.

Sorry to sound negative

Chris

Hi

When we bought this Powerstep Lift we paid extra to have fitted the self supporting legs that make it extremely stable.

Our lift will take you to a height of 600mm, which you will need for a caravan / motorhome, although I do believe they do another version that only take you to a height of 450mm (priced around £1680)

I am a 64 year old 5 foot 1 inch woman, and find no difficulty in lifting it into the rear of a Volvo Estate car.

We have the receipt that shows we paid £2200 for it last year, and although we would ideally like to achieve £1100 for it, we would look at offers over £900.

If anyone is interested in seeing it, or require anymore information, please contact me.

Margaret
