Anyone had any good experiences with purchasing solar panels on eBay? The price difference between a well known brand, for example a Kyocera and those available on eBay can be as much as £250 for an equivalent wattage size.

Would be interested in the quality of the panels and recommendations of any suppliers on eBay or should I just spend the extra on a branded product?

These are good if you want long cables as cable is pricey.

Also greenerelectric are a good seller as Tonka will support

Panels are Kleerskies 2000 monocrystaline. Work fine.

I agree.

I bought 2 from greenerelectric. They are around 5% less efficient, which is why I bought 2. A lot depends on whether you need the extra efficiency of the Kyoceras, etc..

Razz Talkin about me !!!

Yep I bought off ebay and self fitted.. So did my mate and I understand a few people on MHF may have done as well.
For what I paid and how it's worked I am more than happy...

When you look at 80w panels and see the spec, you dont get 100% more power for 100% more price... 25 years guarantee, really you gonna worry about something that long AND expect the company to still be there...!

Here's a link to the one I used..
80w PANEL + REG

But there are a few now doing good deals..

ps,... Not posting my pics as Techno's is much neater and he has a clean roof Sad

Yes overinflated profiteering is on the way out. Fair price for fitting and a REASONABLE mark up on materials but not stuffed on both Shocked

Greenelectric got my vote too with their 80 watt panel plus free charge controller and I am more than happy with the quality. I also reccomended them to a friend who'd previously paid twice the price for a 25 watt unit on a previous van - he is well chuffed!

Go for it - I am sure you will not regret it!

When I have saved some more pennies I'll be getting another one which should allow me to wildcamp in the winter months too.

I bought a cracking one for £45 2nd hand.

Funny thing is everytime I go past a solar driven roadsign it waves to its mates shouting, " help I've been kidnapped!"
