I'm considering fitting this kit which has the CAM33C1 camera. Can anyone who has fitted this camera give me the measurements for the fixing holes. There are two sets of holes and I'm interested to know the distance between the centres of the two sets of holes. The size of the holes/elongated slots is not important.

I'm thinking of using a small aluminium marine deck gland to bring the cables out onto the roof and the cap of the gland has three stainless steel fixing screws two of which might just coincide nicely with the mounting holes for the camera. As the deck glands are made in different sizes it might be possible to select a size for best fit if I had the information about the holes in the camera mounting bracket. Just need to check this out to see if it a viable way of doing it.

Graham

I remember downloading the installation drawings but I can't remember the link!

It gave detailed dimensional drawings.

Have downloaded the full Waeco installation instructions which does give very good clear drawings and diagrams but unfortunately no specific dimensions for the camera bracket. It simply instructs to use the bracket as a template to mark out the hole positions without giving any actual dimensions.

The other thing I meant to mention and wondered if anybody had come across this is the Waeco camera mounting aid.

The camera mounting aid is for use with the Fiat Ducato panel van only and requires the rear high level brake light to be removed and rehoused in the mounting aid. It looks a nice idea as it would avoid drilling any holes in the van to fit the camera and would be easily removeable if required.

Waeco's website says it's for use with the CAM16 camera and I was wondering if it could be used to accomodate the CAM33C camera. Judging by the picture I would think the camera would have to be mounted on top of the unit rather than underneath as it may obstruct the opening of the rear doors. It's possible the camera bracket might attach directly onto the vertical face just below the brake light.

Anyone had any experience of this little aid?

It looks very neat but if the little circle on the bottom of the pod in the photograph is the camera it does not look as though it could be angled to allow it to be used for rear view as well as reversing. That is a very useful additional use of a camera as it allows you to see the area behind the van which the wing mirrors cannot see. That would rule that mounting option out for me, Alan.

I agree absolutely - presumably the camera fitted is the CAM16 which looks straight down. As I understand it it doesn't come with the camera fitted but as an empty plastic moulding ready for the brakelight and camera to be fitted. I'm really looking at the idea of externally attaching the CAM33C1 twin lense camera to get a switchable view either straight down or rearwards because I will be towing a small trailer.

My main question is if anyone has had experience of the Waeco camera mounting aid and whether it would be viable to to bolt the bracket of the CAM33C1 camera to it. It may well be that it's not practical to do so because of space or that it's just not rigid enough. Just wondered if anyone had used one.

Hi Bruce (Pippin)

Many thanks indeed for taking the time and trouble to get your stepladder out and then sending me a PM with the dimensions for mounting holes for Waeco CAM33C1 camera bracket. Having received the information I can now move the whole project forward.

It was also very useful to have you share with me your experience of fitting the camera and the various suggestions you have made.

Your help is much appreciated.

Graham
