Do any of you know where the FM radio aerial is hidden - inside a side mirror? Or is it MH-manufacturer specific. I ask because the one on our Adria Izola gives very poor signal strength.

My previous 'van was on a Renault Master and I was told that the aerial was a wire that was fed into the upper-front section over the cab.
I had my local car-radio chap fit a conventional aerial on the wing but it didn't improve things very much.
Ultimately, the problem turned out to be a rubbish, no-brand radio that the manufacturer had fitted, presumably because it was cheap. It was part of a Freeview system with a drop-down screen in the cab that was so complex it had three remote controls.
I ditched the radio, use my Avtex TV and a satellite dome and have never looked back.
I fitted a good quality radio, Pioneer or Panasonic, I can't honestly remember, but the reception was superb, which proved my installer's advice that the radio was rubbish! My new one also had an iPod jack, which was invaluable in Europe, where we could at least listen to music as well as the odd local programme.
To sum up - before wasting time and money on extra aerials, check out the radio. If it's no-brand model, see if a good car-radio dealer near to you has a decent used radio that he can just slot in to see if it makes a difference. If it does buy a good-make new radio. It worked for me!

Mine was a pioneer radio which I had installed at a professional radio company and it was very obviously the Ariel that was the problem, It was in the windscreen if I remember correctly, once I had a "Real" Ariel fitted the problem was solved and I had an extremely good system that worked perfectly.

Yes, an external aerial, if fitted and grounded correctly, will improve things somewhat. In my post above, the external aerial made little difference as the radio was simply awful to begin with!
If the OP has a good, top-brand radio as you have, he should of course start with a decent external aerial, which will improve things, but the first thing he should do in my opinion, is check out the radio itself.
The clue will be if it has no brand name, or something that he's never heard of!
Thank you all for quick first class responses! I am fitting my own radio- a high quality top-of-the-range Blaupunkt DAB/FM/AM with iPod connector already on. I couldn't find the aerial, but there was a chopped off aerial cable in the dash. Subsequently, I have found via another forum, that Adria chop off the overcab roof aerial cable in the dash, as I have found. Therefore, I am going to fit a quality amplified aerial, and rely on the advice given by the local ICE shop on which one. I had already fitted my own external DAB aerial, bought from him, and it is fantastic, even in our marginal reception area.
Thanks again chaps - good to be amongst such good advisors.

The standard aerial is fitted behind and in line with the near side sun-visor mount.
With my CI Cipro the actual aerial whip was laid (loose) on top of the dash and the base fitment was still in place on the windscreen surround under the Fibreglass over cab cowl.
