A bit of an odd one for you.

Our lass Liz wants me to superimpose some different walling onto a jpg of our new house as we're having some doors blocked up on the outside to re-plan the layout, and rather than try to match a brick from the 70's we thought some contrasting material would improve the looks of the place too

Now I can put the front one on easily, after making it level/square with Picasa 3, but the only photo I have for the side is down the drive and it's impossible to paste over the side door, I can't get a big enough photo square on for physical shortness of space at the side.

So what I need is some way to make a picture of some walling normal on the left side but make the right side shorter as if viewed from the side.

I do not have access to any fancy software other than Irfanview and Picasa 3.

Just learning photoshop but cannot help atm, but have you tried POTN web site? (photography on the net)
