Hi....Am considering fitting a Gasperani EG 20 LPG generator and ,having done my research,I wonder if any one on here has any experience of using one.
51 decibels ? is this going to cause the usual problem with neighbours
at night, and what is the long term reliability record.
Why are they not more popular? Apart from the high cost, they seem too good to be true! Or am I missing something.

Hi, I had an EG-20 and sold it to Sonesta (On Here) it broke my heart to sell it but at the time I was getting a fifth wheel and it wouldn't fit so I had to sell it.

You can hardly hear the motor but having said that I wouldn't use it at night out of courtesy.

The reliability is not in doubt at all and I have not heard of anyone having problems with one, there are a couple on this forum who have them and I know Sonesta who got ours is over the moon with it.

A lot of people don't have them and are against them purely because of the cost.

Mine had the timer fitted and It was set to not come on between 2200 hrs and 0800 hrs and I never had a problem with low batteries at all even when wild camping.

When you compare the noise it makes to an EFOY 37db and the EFOY doesn't even wake you up (allegedly) you may get an idea.

Thanks Les, that's what I wanted to hear I remember your enforced sale from way back.
BTW , the dimensions are pretty small---how come you couldnt squeeze it in a fiver?

The Fiver only has a 4" chassis and it is mostly covered in so it couldn't be fitted.

I am awaiting my new MH, It has an efoy as standard but I will be watching it and if it won't suffice, another EG-20 is on it's way.

"It has an efoy as standard"
Who said they wouldn,t catch on?

The Gasperini is only a 20 amp(ish) battery charger.

For the similar money you could get a Dometic TEC29 (Honda 4 stroke powered) which will charge your batteries and also give you 2.4KVA of mains.

I take your point Clive,I have a Honda 2.0 (used once), but surely the Gasperini does the job automaticaly when the voltage drops and so is "on" for a minimal length of time? no? We are not heavy users of power hungry equipment, and have 2x110 batts+ 100w solar panel.

We were parked next to a Dutch guy only last week and he had a EG-20. Sadly I have to say that he had it presumably set on auto and to come on when his battery level dropped. It came on several times during the night - it did not appear to be any quieter than a Honda genny.

During the day it wasn't intrusive but at night when it was really quiet (as it should be) it could be heard and disturbed many of us resulting in a few exchanges the following morning by both English and French neighbours

Vennwood is totally correct. An engine will cause a nuisance.
OK, Now I am not playing with my phone I see you have solar panels so the Efoy as a backup should do you just fine.

Enjoy
