Hi all,

am doing my research as we plan to be in Croatia in a couple of weeks. Thanks to ACSI and most of all to

http://www.langdale-associates.com/croatia_2008/postscript/index.htm#25

the coast as far as Dubrovnik is pretty well planned with a few decent-looking, open all year campsites earmarked. Will let you know how we fare.

However I can't find anything within decent striking distance of Dubrovnik itself ... has anyone got any tips for a campsite that will take larger motorhomes which is open in Nov/Dec?

Really appreciate your help.

Camping Solitudo used to be open all year round but it seems that they are closing at the end of November this year.

You could try contacting >Camping Solitudo< It is the only campsite anywhere near Dubrovnik that may take an RV.

When we visited Dubrovnik, we wished we had taken the Guide Routard's advice and parked at Cavtat, then taken the ferry to Dubrovnik for the day, a lovely entry into the city which avoids the traffic and the problem of where to park.

You could try one of the Tourist offices, for example www.tzcavtat-konavle.

Or try www.tzdubrovnik.hr.

We were in Dubrovnik a 2 weeks ago, not really anywhere to get an RV into close to the old town but you should be OK by the new port, Cavtat has some very tight turns, small carpark at the centre

We were not in the MH but did travel out each day but it appears that all the campsites were closed, the ones we seen north of Dubrovnik on the coast road had some interesting entrances down some pretty narrow roads, so Google Earth will need to be your friend I think

Quite expensive to eat/snacks within the old town, and dependent on number of cruise ships can also be a little hectic within the walled city.

Enjoy, it is a beautiful city and the surrounding area is very pleasant at this time of year.

Chris

thanks all for the advice. As we have the little car on tow, we've decided to stay at either/both

http://www.camp-monika.hr/index.html 40 km to the south

or Campsite Palme, Kuciste http://www.kamp-palme.com/en/kamp.aspx to the north. Both are allegedly open all year ... the latter does seem to be.

If anyone has any experience of either, would love to hear them.

Really looking forward to being there shortly, travelling via Milan and Venice.

Thanks again

Hi 366,
We did stay at Camping Monika, perfectly OK and very friendly but just a 6m van with bikes on the back was a challenge to access the camping itself on the steep, gravelled descent and tuck into a parking area. I couldn't recommended with a car on the back.
David.
