Hi Folks,

I can't see any reference in the forum to a problem I have been experiencing.

If there is any sort of rain or wet on the roads I find that the image on the screen becomes totally blurred. The camera was fitted by the 'van supplier when new. There is the usual little adjustable hat fitted over the unit but it doesn't seem to stop this from happening.

I am pretty sure that it's the vacuum created in the wake at the back of the 'van that causes the mist to be sucked in to the camera lens.

My question is - has anyone experienced this problem and more importantly found a solution?

Happy Christmas to All.

It's a typical problem. In the wet, you will get slipstreamed spray over the lens. Just have to get out and wipe it with a soft cloth I'm afraid.

Some newer camera units have an automatic shutter that closes over the lens to protect it until required. Models available from Camos and Waeco I believe - at a price!

The one I have has " integrated heating with thermal sensor keeps the lens free at low temperatures". It seems fairly effective in Summer spray conditions as well.

Quick update. I have the same model as Rayc and yes, the heater element does help. I still find that I have to wipe the lens when the weather is really bad. I think the heater dries the muck on the lens and a film builds up during a long journey.

Pitty I didn't know about the existence of a heater before specifying.

Ah well looks like I'll just have to keep wiping it. At least I now know that it's not just my one that has the problem. Somehow it always helps if you know that your not the only one with the problem !!!.
