can any one help need to have a good solar panel fitted can you give me any idea cost ?? do not fancy getting one of ebay ?
Hi Jan
Without giving quite a bit more information about your specific requirements, you have actually asked "How long is a piece of string?"
There are so many different reasons for wanting a panel in the first place, and such a large variety of panels etc., that it's impossible to give a sensible answer.
If you offer some more information you may find you don't need a panel at all - it happens quite often.
Go in the tech section and look under solar panels. Lots of info there. I picked up all the tips and did my own, along with many others here on MHF.. 80W panel DIY fitted with a regulator cost me under Ģ230... Nowt wrong with ebay
Dealer fitted you can double that amount..
I went to solar solutions in Poole for mine and its great does the job so far, they are a great company too

Just fitted a 120watt solar for around Ģ800.00, best thing with solar is fit as big as you can afford or fit.

Had my 60 watt fitted at a Motorhome show with regulator for Ģ400. The fitting was straightforward but I would not have known how to tap into the vans electrical system.
Although small compared to some on this thread, I am delighted with it. On normal use outside uk my two batteries read 100% at the end of each day.

Yes - we too had ours fitted by Shane at Snellyvision and if you are a member of MHF, then as already mentioned, Shane will look after you and offer you a bit of discount. He did an excellent job of ours and his prices are very competitive and he uses top quality products.
We found having a solar panel to be excellent during the summer months. And during our trip around France last year, it really came into it's own as we were able to wild camp and stay on aires etc and having an EHU wasn't a major concern at all.

PS A solar panel is great when your van is not in use too, as once the weather improves you can keep your batteries charged up without having to rely on it being plugged into an electrical supply. This must be especially advantageous to those owners who have to put their MH's into storage compounds because they have no room at their home address to keep it. We keep our MH on our driveway - but even so, in the better weather, we unplug it from the electric and let the solar panel keep our batteries topped up and they remain fully charged at all times.
