Just bought a Chausson Flash 04. So far all okay but only done 250 miles so the engine is still very tight. Fuel consumption is 25mpg. We are only doing 60mph on motorway and gentle stuff on the A roads.
Will it get better and what could we expect?
Thank you
It will go up, probably to around the 30mpg mark and 33-35mpg on a run. No more than that though. My petrol Zafira only does 25mpg around town and 30mpg on a run. Poxy thing!
My Hymer is nearly one year old and is on the 2.2 Tranny. I am getting a midge over 30mpg. I use cruise control when conditions permit and don't have a lead foot. I average 60 ish in suitable conditions and avoid any possibility of a queue.
It is of little help giving mpg if you do not mention engine size.
I have for a couple of months now taken an interest in a Mk7 Ford Transit based motorhome, with options of two engine sizes in 2.2 TDci 6 speed range, 115PS and 140ps.
All the research I have done so far gives reasonably good mpg for the 115 but, not so good for the more powerful 140, which is understandable.

Any idea how long it will take to get up to 30mpg? Using cruise when able.
We have a Flash S3 with the 140 hp engine, the running weight is in the range 3100- 3200 kg and it has the aerodynamic characteristic of a brick
After 17k miles we average 25.5 mpg (Jane ) and 27.5 mpg(Tim )
These figures have not improved much from new and I think any improvement has been due to better driving style. I don't subscribe to the theory that the engine and transmission needs to bed down and run-in for maximum performance Modern manufacturing techniques mean that they perform at peak efficiency almost immediately out of the box

engine size.....
Size and maximum power is not the main issue
The significant thing is how much power you actually use and that is governed by the vehicle shape and weight and driving style (speed, acceleration, anticipation etc etc)

rocky58 claims good mpg from his Detleffs Globevan, I wouldi be interested in his engine cc, it will be a factor in my buying decision, also I have spent quite a bit of time on Transit forums, getting views on performance and mpg whether it be luton van or builders truck.
